Happy birthday to a very special boy! Yes, I'm a day late, and I didn't even draw anything despite having plenty of forewarning, but he has been on my mind. Of course I couldn't forget about my all-time favorite character, even if I don't post about him a lot anymore. Most people seeing this won't know I posted about him on Twitter and was so annoying about him in DMs that he came to me in a dream to stop me. I was exiting a single-stall bathroom and Felix was by the door waiting in line, and when he saw me he was like "aren't you the guy who keeps making weird posts about me online?" and I started running. So maybe think about that whenever you think my dedication doesn't seem to be strong anymore. (LOL)

Today seems as good a day as any for drafting what I want to put on my Felix shrine page. I should be doing this for Clavis first since I actually have the design for his up and running, but it's not Clavis's special day now is it? He can wait.

Who the Hell is "Peepee"?
Actually, his name is Felix. I have a lot of nicknames for him because I talk about him like he's a little baby kitty and not an asshole and skilled killer. It's not that I coddle him and think he can do no wrong - quite the opposite! I simultaneously think he's very cute while keeping him chained in my basement for his crimes. You wouldn't understand the Chris grindset.

Anyways, his full name is Felix Hugo Fraldarius and he is from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a strategy RPG for Nintendo Switch. He's a childhood friend of the prince of Faerghus, Dimitri, but the two have drifted apart due to their own traumas. They both have been enrolled in Garreg Mach Officers Academy in the year the game starts, and thus are forced to be in proximity with each other again. Not that Dimitri minds, but Felix hates it. When you talk to him your first free day in the game (? not counting the chara intro day I guess... the ACTUAL first day that matters), instead of saying "hi" or anything normal, he tells you that he's known the prince for a long time, that they used to be close, and that you should keep an eye on him because he's actually really dangerous. ...Okay. Whatever you say man.

So, the thing is that Felix is actually very right - he's almost always right - but he goes unheeded, because he's a teenage asshole (and everyone else is too stuck in their own ways). BUT I'd like to clarify here that he's only an asshole to those he's known for a long time because they suck, and he's cold to other people. I'm not sure how so many people mess this up, but he's not an asshole just to be an asshole, he just has no idea how to get people right in some other way. If there's nothing about you that's pissing him off, he's not very mean. He's just kinda uninterested. He likes swords more than people, and he's kind of blunt (and socially awkward), but that doesn't equal bullying anyone and everyone.

Okay, back on track: Asshole childhood friend of a rogue prince. That's who he is. Also the game's resident Swordsman (or a Navarre, if you know Fire Emblem well), so he's very fast with frequent doubles and crits and dodges. Not very tanky, but not so bad I'd call him a glass cannon. His archetype isn't associated with being mega-strong either (they double and crit all the time, so a high strength stat would be overkill), but my Felix was on roids in FE Three Hopes so I dunno...... What I think is cool is he says that traditional sword techniques are too formalized and warriors should do anything it takes to win (Felix pocket sand?), so I imagine him fighting like Yuri a little :3 *punches you* *punches you* *kicks you* *punches you* Oh and most people promote him to Mortal Savant, so then he can throw magic into the mix too! *punches you* *punches you* *kicks you* *casts fireball* *punches you* wait what was i talking about again

But What Does Peepee Mean to Me?
Well, to start, I'm going to state this right now for everyone to know: I have not played Azure Moon (the route focused on Dimitri, and Felix's default one). Not once. I started an attempt, but replaying White Clouds is just so boring... When I first got the game, I thought the Black Eagles looked more interesting as a collective, but I was very very interested in Felix still, so I chose the Black Eagles and recruited him ASAP. Pspspspspsps. I didn't know that my love for Navarres and seperating him from his countrymen was going to ruin his life. (grins)

The Black Eagles belong to another country, Adrestia, so as a student of my class Felix abandons Faerghus when the war starts. Is that actually something he would do? Don't worry about all that, let's just pretend that away from his friends he had a lot of time to let his anger fester. After 5 years, when the player comes back and finds out what everyone's up to, Felix is like an empty shell of himself. He even says that he's just like Dimitri now, only enjoying "violence and destruction." Sickos when they see a character get worse and more miserable: [sickos_but_its_chris.jpg] I even had him kill his own father for the drama of it all. I had him kill all of his old allies, actually. The only person he knew that he didn't kill was Dimitri... For narrative purposes, I think the game made it nigh-impossible for anyone to kill him but Edelgard and Byleth (protags of the Crimson Flower route). Intsys doesn't care about my narrative, where Felix is the main character and everything revolves around him 🙄 Whateverrrr

After all that... his solo ending is awesome. It's awesome because it sucks for him.

"Even after the war's end, skirmishes continued to break out across Fódlan. Bored and restless in his capacity as Duke Fraldarius, Felix abandoned his title, jumping at the opportunity to wield a sword again. Little is known of his whereabouts thereafter, but even many years later, soldiers continued to whisper rumors of a mysterious man able to deal swift death to scores of enemies."

And let me throw in a little expansion included in his ending with Mercedes, because I like suffering. It only says it there, but I'm sure it applies to every solo not-AM ending.

"Even after the war's end, skirmishes continued to break out across Fódlan. Learning that there were still places where he could fight, Felix abandoned his noble title and chose to make a living with his sword. He traveled the land, seeking battle as if he had a death wish..."

Sounds like Navarre, right? And many other Fire Emblem characters who follow in Navarre's footsteps. Yes, Felix's entire story in FE3H sounds like a prologue or explanation for his archetype. You've seen many cool, silent swordsmen who only cares about killing. You know, "care" is a strong word... more like, it's the only thing they can do, so it's the only thing they bother doing. They don't want to be bothered with things unrelated to that. But their backstories are often vague, and I'd be left wondering why they act like that. Well, I have a backstory for a future one now! I've never seen anyone else bring this up, and it's not like I'm the only Navarre-like fan in the world, so maybe no one else cares about these things. But I do. I think it's really, really cool.

And I think it's cool that he comes from a game popular enough that he gets a lot of fanart (doesn't happen for me often, even if a lot of the art is a ship I dgaf about), and I think his wrinkles are cool, and I like his english dub voice, kinda bratty, and I like when people draw him as a cat, and I like how he stands with a hand on his hip by default (slay queen), and I like that "Handling my opps" "What opps" is a real exchange he had, and I like his hair (of course) even if his post timeskip hairstyle is A Choice that I'm assuming is en vogue in the kingdom, and I like how his skill that gives him a bonus if he's alone becomes a hinderance as the game goes on, and I like how magic is his weakness and then becomes a special talent, I like his death quotes and all his other quotes, I like the cutscene in Three Hopes where he holds out his smexy >w< gloved hand, I like his legs, I like him trying to turn his back to the past while absorbing his dead brother's personality (taking him over like a symbiote), I like how he looks chained in my basement, I like the thoughts it's implied he has off screen, like he has a rich inner world and isn't just pixels and stats on a screen, I like the mouse pad next to me right now where the part where you rest your wrist is his ass and my mouse is like a boot stepping on him, and uhhhhhh uhmmmmmm I really like him okay!!! ? Okay? Do you get it? Do you understand?

Because I can't think of what else to write right now. I'm sure later I'll reread this and think of new things, or how to reorganize this, and stuff like that. I've kind of been writing this for 2 hours, with an intermission to try on new clothes that came in the mail. They look good as hell by the way. I'll see you later.
