Journaling Prompt: The romance of summer! What do you love? Write about anything you feel sentimental about or that gets your heart pumping.

I love music. I play it as often as I can. I wear my earphones basically 24/7 outside of my room, on music tracking sites they note how much more I listen to music than the average person, I don't watch YouTube videos of people talking because it irks me that I could just read whatever they want to say while I get to keep my music on, and even within a culture that loves music I thought that I felt music more deeply than others when I was very little. (I now think that's probably not true, not because I have proof of otherwise, but because I'm less self-centered and "the world revolves around meeeeee"-brained than I was when I was 7. Hopefully.)

I also love animation. It's cool when someone can draw well, but you know what's cooler? When someone can make dozens or hundreds of drawings that, when seen in rapid succession, imitate movement. It takes a lot of patience and skill, and I always found it more appealing than live action. And when I thought anime was the coolest thing on earth, naturally my love for the art form quadrupled.

Now imagine... what if... some sicko combined music AND animation and created some kind of animated music video...

You're right. That would be really weird. Thank GOD no one's done it before.

Journaling Prompt: Light up your journal with activity this month. Talk about your goals for July or for the second half of 2025.

Because I'm obsessed with making lists, especially to-do lists, I actually do have a list of well-defined goals to finish by the end of this month. I'm only going to share the ones I'm pretty sure I'll complete, because it's really embarrassing saying you're going to do something and then not doing it.

  • Translate 5 chapters of that thing I'm translating.
  • Translate one smaller thing, like a one-shot or interview or something.
  • Finish one (1) singular illustration.
  • Finish one book of original English-language fiction.
    • To the readers here this probably seems crazy to have to add as a goal, but I usually use comics to fulfill my fiction needs, and read nonfiction otherwise. For my future job I need to read more fiction in my native language though, so here I am. Although, I'm also told I need to be reading contemporary fiction, to know what readers expect now... instead what I'm reading is from the 60s and 70s. I have a problem, I think.

My goals for the second half of the year? I just want my driver's license and to graduate college TT I know I'll hate having a job too (when I had one for a while I was like "so... is this just it for the rest of my life?" and my sanity meter started draining, but I went back to school before it could empty), but I'm so over school. And I would like to go to the places I want when I want! Looking forward to that!! I don't live in a place where depending on public transportation is feasible for an exciting life.

As for the creative prompt, I had started a drawing (completely unrelated to this event, but I was going to share it regardless), but I wasn't able to finish it in time. I'm trying to figure out what's causing me to be such a slow artist lately - lately meaning the past 5 years or so - but I hope I can do at least one of the creative prompts. I know there's not actually any time limit, so maybe I'll do them all even if it takes a while... I still haven't even finished the Snowflake Challenge though. ^^; I forgot about it until just now, although it's in one of my many to-do lists.

Here's to hoping I'm able to accomplish everything I want. 🙏🏾

Since I'm free from the chains of review catch-up. It's late and I should be getting to bed though, so I don't have much to say right now.

I had a lot to say about this 20? 30? hour game, clearly. Making my icon for this post Eisen because I think he's soooo cute :3

This is the last post of this silly series. I'm free... I'm finally free.
Harukanaru Toki no Naka de )

Since I started this series of posts I've also finished Resident Evil 4 (the Wii port with improved graphics and stuff, not the remake), but I don't feel like reviewing it. Everyone knows RE4. All I will say is I had fun and I liked it, but I could only play it in short bursts because it made my motion sickness act up badly. I kind of want to draw Ashley and her big ears.

Four days ago I started a really long post reviewing (badly, because I am a bad reviewer and critic) things I've finished in the past few months because I felt like I should. The post started like this:
I really need to learn to just make posts as soon as the idea is in my head rather than hold on to them, so that I won't have to make posts like this and push other post ideas back. Procrastinating these long things that only get longer as I hold out sucks a little. I'm using a template for most of these because otherwise I won't write anything that makes sense or reads well, lol.
You see, because I procrastinated writing review posts I now had to write 8 in one. Except... no I didn't. I realized late last night I can make and post them a few at a time. I've already finished 6/8, but some of them are really long, and some were even truncated for the sake of not having a miles long post. If I separate them I can talk more. So here goes!

Procrastinating homework by enacting a post idea I had weeks ago: image dumps. Like link dumps... but images. Also videos! Although videos may be included in link dumps too sometimes. Depends on the vibe, you know how it is. Click on the picture for its source.

This is the first thing I put on my "list of pictures to share on DW" folder a month and a half ago. I could easily find a screenshot of this CG in better quality, but nahh. At the time I probably had something disproportionately wild to say about this picture in contrast to how tame/simple/chaste/??? it is, but I'm normal now.

I was nearing 100 saved links, so here we are.

Not that I'm going to post them all in one go. Hell no. I organized them into groups, and I'm going to post 2 or 3 groups max per linkdump.

As for my life, I've been a little busy lately. In a few days I'm going to opposite side of the country to visit a friend for a month. She has to really impress me, because this will determine if after graduation I'll move to Seattle and stay with her or stay in the comfycozy South and feel warmth on my skin 3/4 of the year. Until I leave, I've been working to put out an update on my site - an update I won't drop without completing work on a brand new second website, a fansite where I mostly translate stuff. :p And I have to clean and stuff... yeah, you know how it is. I also have a summer Japanese class, but I'm not stressing it.

1. Does anyone know how these were used?

GIFs

I thought about it, and concluded maybe they went on your friends' walls. Kidzworld had comment sections on profiles but we couldn't send images in them, but if I could that's probably how I would've used them? These days I'm not active on any sites that have walls or profile comments anymore... Do I really wanna hop back on SpaceHey just to use these internet greeting cards...

The ones that have no use as a normal greetings card and are just funny I assume are things you would put in your profile/bio/signature/etc. I don't really know though. I'm too young! If anyone knows or remembers the various ways people would use them, please tell me.

2. Does anyone know any microblogging platform that has built-in RSS feeds and customizable profiles beyond "you can choose an icon and header" besides Status.cafe? Or is that the only one? I don't dislike it or anything, I just want to know if I have options.
elyusion: Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (3w4dw)
This marks the end of Three Weeks, although for me it was more like Two Weeks :p I wasn't even going to write this, but I realized if I don't I'll have created only 13 posts for the event, which is... Look, I'm not superstitious, but when things are within my control I don't want to take chances.

The conclusion I've drawn from the past 3 weeks is that either A. this site is cooked, or B. I'm cooked. Probably a lean towards B. Oh well. So it goes. (Point A reminds me of a post/rant I could make about Tumblr users' general unwillingness to try other sites or *gasp* to make a real actual normal blog. So called "bloggers" when they might have to actually blog: [insert gif here cuz im not gonna go find one])

I've also learned that I like writing, but I can only do it when there's some kind of deadline. I wrote all that stuff willingly, and I think someone who doesn't like writing wouldn't have written as much as I did, so yea. I saw that I really really need to work on my art, so I started a self-study course on the fundamentals a few days ago... Which is currently on pause, because it requires printer paper and I don't have any. I had JUST asked to go to the store the day before, so I want to wait a while before I ask again.

Hm... Yup, I think that's all I have to say. 'Till next time.
elyusion: Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (3w4dw)
I'm sleepy and have other things to do today, so I'm posting this now when I've only read over my translations once and could honestly have picked better fonts. I had meant to post both parts, but the translation for the test results of Part 2 is reeeeeally rough right now. Later I'll finish everything and repost them on [community profile] rubiroma. Typesetting, man...

I chose to translate these to sound just as heteronormative as the original text is. For the first one, it's strange that it assumes you'll only pick guys, when the female characters had fans too...

But yea. This test can be enjoyed if you don't know a thing about Angelique! Pick a fandom, and choose 5 characters from that. They all have to be from the same thing; choosing 5 of your best blorbos from assorted fandoms won't work (usually) (I think).

What is Angelique? I'm glad you asked.

Questions pulled from Angelique and Angelique Special 2. Use this as blogging inspiration, as an ask meme where your subscribers give you numbers and then you answer, as a simple questionnaire to fill out in one go, or whatever else.

1. Your favorite food(s)?

2. Your hated food(s)?

3. Your ideal partner? (Type of person you like)

4. Your unideal partner? (Type of person you dislike)

5. What's your hometown like?

6. Talk about your hobbies.

7. Anything of interest going on lately?

8. Your favorite scent?

9. Your favorite animal?

10. What's your family like?

11. Talk about your clothes. (Either your usual style, or what you're wearing right now.)

12. Thoughts on your latest project?

13. Thoughts on your coworkers/friends?

14. Thoughts on your job?

15. Thoughts on going outside?

16. Thoughts on talking to others?

17. Thoughts on love?

It wouldn't be a (partial) dating sim without the last question!

These are all questions you can ask the love interests, so if you have any interest in how they'd answer any of these... you should play Angelique... 👻

Because why read Wikipedia or something when you could read a post on a blog, right? I highly recommend reading this on a webpage where you can open and close the cut tags.

Thank you for your attention! For the sake of my mutuals who watch me reshare illustrations of lanky, godlike men in confusion, for the sake of those who see my art and wonder who these strange people are, and for the sake of those curious about video game or joseimuke history, I have written this. I will mainly focus on the first game Angelique (1994) and its rereleases, but I'll be sure to mention characters and such from the other games too.

The Basics

Angelique is a series of video games along with a media franchise encompassing anime, manga, novels, drama and music CDs, and much more. It's a series of simulation games - with one JRPG aberration and two digital board games - that forms part of the otome umbrella. In fact, it's the first otome game in history! (What is an otome game?) It's made by Ruby Party, who had to fight to prove making a game aimed just at women would work out. It's also part of their Neoromance series, a franchise of dating simulation games for girls. (Others include Harukanaru Toki no Naka de/Beyond the Stream of Time, Kiniro no Corda/La Corda d'Oro, and Neo Angelique. Maybe you've heard of them!)

The first game released in 1994 and centers around an exam to choose a new Queen for the universe. As the current one loses her power, her aide Dia leads the exam to choose a new one. Two girls from Smolney Girls' Academy on the Main Planet, Angelique and Rosalia, are chosen and whisked away to compete for the throne. To win they must properly harness the powers of the all-male guardians to nurture their own continents. Whoever fully cultivates their continent first gets to be Queen. Obviously it will go better for you if you're in the guardians' good favor, but be careful -- the Queen must be entirely devoted to her work in supporting the Universe. Or, put into other words, girls with boyfriends can't be queen.

Do NOT underestimate how long this post is. )

No art today; after class yesterday I slept all day. Many such cases. So instead I'm filling out this blanket box from osteophage on Pillowfort. I don't really have much interest in using Pillowfort to blog when I already have DW and 3 microblogs, but I still like the concept of blanket boxes. We will be stealing 💯 I'll probably copy and paste all this information to my sticky too.
