I was nearing 100 saved links, so here we are.

Not that I'm going to post them all in one go. Hell no. I organized them into groups, and I'm going to post 2 or 3 groups max per linkdump.

As for my life, I've been a little busy lately. In a few days I'm going to opposite side of the country to visit a friend for a month. She has to really impress me, because this will determine if after graduation I'll move to Seattle and stay with her or stay in the comfycozy South and feel warmth on my skin 3/4 of the year. Until I leave, I've been working to put out an update on my site - an update I won't drop without completing work on a brand new second website, a fansite where I mostly translate stuff. :p And I have to clean and stuff... yeah, you know how it is. I also have a summer Japanese class, but I'm not stressing it.

The Patriotism Trap / I really liked this essay. For a long time I used to wonder how I'd respond to the question "Do you love this country?" if I were running for president, ever since I saw a Republican say "Dems can never just say 'yes'." Because... I don't? I don't love "this country," I care for the people who live in it. Why would I give a shit about some founding documents, or lines on maps, or some vague grouping of ideals that we don't even live up to? Why do I have to pretend I do? I want people to survive and thrive - and not just "my" people, all people. That's all. If allegiance to those things is standing in the way, screw them.

i love seattle!!! i lived there for like 7 years & go back to visit often, all my bffs are still there. i can't say how it is to be Black there but from what i can tell there's not a huge Black population but it is vibrant & thriving. obv lots of gentrification cuz white people can't stand to see Black people vibrant & thriving without inserting themselves. but south seattle has historically been Black, the central district, beacon hill etc.
i love the south too. i lived in austin for like five years which i know is not super south but still. i really liked every other spot i went to from the carolinas to new orleans. the south is really special. the pnw is very special too but in like the complete opposite way & some of the same ways.

have a great time in seattle!! there might be wild strawberries already, pick & eat some if u find them. they'll prob be the best strawberries u ever had.

they don't call austin south by southwest for nothin. i really like houston more but i ended up in austin kinda by chance & just ended up staying.
yeah seattle is pretty diverse! a lot of the brown people there are rich tech workers, so not sure about getting much solidarity from them, but not all of them. there is specifically a really big ethiopian / eritrean population in south seattle & a ton of good food down there. it's pretty cool walking around hearing people speaking amharic, ukranian, hindi, etc & there is even a pretty big indigenous culture (coast salish - duwamish specifically) but sadly most of them are unhoused. but yes there's tons to do, pretty good public transit that keeps expanding, & a TON of nature in the city itself & not for away. like the olympic peninsula has rain forest, beaches, hot springs, etc & it's like less than an hour away by ferry. vancouver bc is 3 hours away. portland, or is three hours away. if u go into any forests you'll find wild strawberries. but come july the blackberries will be EVERYWHERE, every fence every sidewalk every yard. i make myself sick on them every summer lol. last summer i made purple ice cream with them. you're going at a really good time of year!! i think it's supposed to be hot next week but it might still rain. it usually rains into june. i bet where u live now is beautiful too, i'd love to see a small island in a sea forest!! (check out the san juans for actual islands in a salish sea of forest). i'm sure it'll be a culture shock etc but if u are used to being surrounded by nature seattle is prob the best big city u could hope for in the states.
