This marks the end of Three Weeks, although for me it was more like Two Weeks :p I wasn't even going to write this, but I realized if I don't I'll have created only 13 posts for the event, which is... Look, I'm not superstitious, but when things are within my control I don't want to take chances.

The conclusion I've drawn from the past 3 weeks is that either A. this site is cooked, or B. I'm cooked. Probably a lean towards B. Oh well. So it goes. ^{(Point A reminds me of a post/rant I could make about Tumblr users' general unwillingness to try other sites or *gasp* to make a real actual normal blog. So called "bloggers" when they might have to actually blog: [insert gif here cuz im not gonna go find one])}

I've also learned that I like writing, but I can only do it when there's some kind of deadline. I wrote all that stuff willingly, and I think someone who doesn't like writing wouldn't have written as much as I did, so yea. I saw that I really really need to work on my art, so I started a self-study course on the fundamentals a few days ago... Which is currently on pause, because it requires printer paper and I don't have any. I had JUST asked to go to the store the day before, so I want to wait a while before I ask again.

Hm... Yup, I think that's all I have to say. 'Till next time.

There are active parts of Dreamwidth, even communities with daily or more posts. It does take some looking to find those, though.

soc_puppet has written a bunch of DW tutorials, mostly aimed at Tumblr users, over on newcomers. It's easier to learn a new thing with good instructions.

DW has deadlines galore for anyone who likes that. See fandomcalendar for fests, goals_on_dw for challenges of varying lengths, and allbingo for a new fest each month.

I don't think DW is cooked, it's still going strong for what it is. I think it's just people's hesitance to want to jump ship on a new site with strangers, which is sad... But I realize that shouldn't stop people from parking their own space on here.

It really doesn't help that sometimes on a post I'll some people in the tags like "I miss LJ </3" It really makes me scream internally every time. Or when people say a site isn't viable because it's "dead"... bring it to life!!!!!!! It won't ever become undead if everyone avoids it because it's dead TT_TT Come on peopleeee

Yeah, true... There's so many posts on Tumblr and whatnot going "I miss LJ" "I wish Tumblr/Twitter/Bsky had this feature" when this is right here... But I realized the hard way last year that people will be where their friends are, and shit has to hit the fan HARD for a migration. I only left Livejournal in 2011 because everyone I knew was on Tumblr. But now I think I will choose a few obscure-ish sites to invest in as sort of a lifeboat when the inevitable happens, like here and Side 7.

Okay, this is totally irrelevant, but do you heavily prefer Side 7 over Sheezy.art? Because sometimes I hear about it and wonder if I should be there instead of Sheezy, or if whatever gap exists between them isn't large enough to matter. I don't think I want to keep up with two art sites either.

I use both, but I do prefer S7. I used it briefly as a tween and came back when I realized it was still online and had new features. So it's a lot older and stable than the current incarnation of Sheezy, that's unrelated to the original 2005 site. The owners are cool people and tech-savvy, and it's also anti-AI, but the site was recently scraped so beware of that. My experience after making a new account almost 2 years ago is it's more "quality over quantity" compared to how passive Sheezy is.
