elyusionI was up by 3am that day, so I decided to take a nap before the direct and accidentally woke up 5 minutes before the Direct ended. Not because I slept for too long, but because I thought the Direct was an hour later than it really was. I wasn't let down or anything because I knew I shouldn't be watching it anyways -- there are many, many, many video games I can play for free, and if I want to spend money on games I should try to focus on indie creators. Watching the direct would only tempt me into spending $60 or $70 on games when I could get the same amount of enjoyment from something cheaper. And yet, I did it anyways.
I saw someone say they don't watch half-hour-long advertisements because if there's anything there that's their style, their friends would let them know. So that's also why I kind of had to watch. I don't think anyone would tell me if there's something I'd really really want to know about.
Anyways. We move. These were my impressions.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Awww, it looks cute!! All the other Story of Seasons games on Switch have looked so ehhhhhh to me. The Wii games look better to me than them. Hell, that Harvest Moon game on Switch with the open world looks better to me, and that's sad. So I'm glad this game is so cute. I have no connection to the original game though - the only DS Harvest Moon I played was Sunshine Islands, and I stopped playing after my sister damn near literally burned my crops and poisoned the well. I don't know if I'll actually buy this or anything, but I'm glad it exists.
Metroid Prime 4
Metroid is lookin good babeyyy (I have no further commentary beyond this) (I have absolutely no business buying this game when I haven't played any Metroids besides the SNES one. Which was peak. But I must go beyond.)

Saga Frontier 2 Remastered
Dude I saw the sword appear on my fucking screen and I thought it was Fire Emblem and my heart stopped 😭😭😭😭😭 And then it WASN'T😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 But of course it wasn't! If I was a real fan I would have instantly recognized that it wasn't Tyrfing. Of course, it could still have been an all-new Fire Emblem, but nah. It's definitely about time for a remake (If they skip doing an Echoes game I will be forced to assume they genuinely hate FE4.) Now, I wasn't disappointed, because I loved Saga Frontier. None of the character designs from the sequel intrigue me as much as the first game's, but I can't judge everything by if there's a character I want to smash. I like to see number go up. Saga has number go up. Therefore, Saga good. The game also has very very very good art direction, therefore Saga awesome. I will likely be buying.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
We did it Joe............... Them not updating the voices at all is killing me. I guess people really do like them and many would consider them nostalgic, but I've always thought they were ass. Oh well. I do really like the colors and shading. 50% chance that I will be buying.
By the way, I had no predictions or desires from the Direct. I got the Style Savvy game I've been begging for since day one, so there's nothing else I'm dying for now. A remake of Genealogy would be a fairly big deal to me, but I don't really desire it. It would be cool. But the original game exists and is just fine. An all-new Fire Emblem would also be a considerable deal, but after Engage (which may have just been a one-time anniversary fanservice thing, to be fair) I worry if future games will have art styles that are all bobbleheaded... I know they wouldn't do that to Genealogy so no worries there, but for an original game? I don't know... I just don't know. I don't care to play Engage ever, and if future games are going to look like that I won't be geeked just by hearing an announcement that they exist.
