Few minorities can understand the plight of being a Jeritza fan. I was beaten, mocked, scorned. Stones would fly whenever I left my house, but even inside my house I found no refuge, for they would regularly hurl insults just outside my window. My pain ran deep, but I persevered. Because deep down I knew, somehow, Jeritza would one day become relevant.
Shit was tough. When Three Houses first came out, dude was busted. Crusted. Dusted. No supports. Barely any relevance besides kicking your ass if you don't have Lysithea. A mere pathetic shade of the Black Knight.
But then the game got an update, and Jeritza was no longer completely fugly. He had supports now too! He became m!Byleth's second gay romance option. A win for weird creepy bisexuals the world over. But even so, none of this earned him much popularity... I would scour the internet, and besides the sporadic bust it was mostly the same 1 or 2 people drawing him... At the time, I couldn't find much fanfic either. I felt many people weren't seeing what I was seeing, and it was maddening.
When Three Hopes was announced, I was like "maybe this time he'll get fans since he's there from the start," but it still didn't happen! I wanted to believe, but it seemed to be well and truly over for Jeritza fans. He didn't make any significant gains in the area of fancontent. Not even being gay could save him from being another borderline offensive character with DID. Even though for so long I said he had vampiric potential, that he's literally the negligent Viscount of Hyrm that lets other people tax the shit out of/conscript his people while he himself "hunts" other people at night, how his disorder resembles a dhampir struggling with their vampiric side. He kidnapped Flayn so TWSITD could have her blood for Sothis' sake. And I've long said that he would look like Alucard if he let his hair down. No one cared, everyone just glared at me or spit on me when I pointed these things out...
But then!!
Now suddenly I've had to hear his name from tons of people's mouths!! Ohhhh now everyone care him all of a sudden ooooooooooh
And people calling this man Alucard and stuff... Well, yea! Jeritza already was a vampire!! But he cleverly did his hair in such a way that only the most observant would catch on to his true nature, clearly... But where were all you people! When I needed you!!!!! I've seen so much fanart of this man and we don't even know a thing about his story except that Jeritza and Mercedes are obviously his descendants. Were I a worse man, I'd attempt to gatekeep him from everyone who hasn't shared Jeritza content at least thrice in the past 6 years...
If I didn't like this guy I'd say "well I can squint and pretend all the art of this LOSER is of Jeritza instead," but I do like him. I like him a lot. Thinking of going halfsies on a Switch 2 with my roommate, but then who would get the Switch 2 after the divorce (when one of us move out)....
Regardless of my feelings on this man!! I was right. Things were looking bad for Jeritzanators, but in the end he ended up being relevant in a not-really-but-yes sort of way. Or I could say Jeritza's existence was merely a practice run for this character, Dietrich. My senses were right, but I went ignored, condemned, burned and mistreated. Everyone should kiss the toe of my boot and say "wowwwwwww Cici you were so right and correct and have great taste, we are always going to listen to you from now on because you clearly know better than us plebs," and then I might tell everyone what they're planning for the next Fire Emblem game. God.
This post is mostly me joking around. Do not get mad at me.
