As always, my per-episode reactions are on bnha_fans! I'll just blab about the season (and series) as a whole here.
The end of an era! I've been watching BnHA since 2017, after a screenshot of Iida from the then-current OP passed through my Twitter timeline. I thought he was a nice, square boi so I started watching the anime ... and ended up binge-watching the available seasons in spurts until I caught up.
( Spoilers. )
As a whole, this season really drove home the point that most people—All for One not included lol—have the capacity for both good and bad, and things are never really black-and-white. While people are responsible for their own choices at the end of the day, society as a whole can still (and should be) improved to help everyone.
Random stuff:
- I immediately wanted to read normal!AU fic of All for One and Yoichi, featuring AFO being a baka aniki, as soon as the backstory dropped 😂 I'm so predictable.
- Y'all will never make me hate Iida's hair. He's my son, the goodest boi. The squarest son.
- The art was consistently amazing throughout this season! Definitely went out with a bang on that front.

It's another fic told through snippets from invented social media posts across about ten years, following the development, within the universe of Heated Rivalry, of hockey rpf fandom, mainly focusing on Hollanov (Ilya/Shane). It's extraordinarily well done, and although the story of Shane and Ilya's decade-long love affair is the core thread, the real tale is of the rpf fandom, specifically a few devoted fans. The poignancy and brilliance of this fic is the portraits it paints of fanwriters and young fans, immersed in the fandom while they grow and develop, moving through their own life stages and dramas while posting about the hockey players they love, especially Hollanov. And in the end, of course, the Hollanov truthers are resoundingly vindicated. The formatting makes it clear that we're seeing posts on tumblr, livejournal, AO3, Reddit, Twitter, etc., with different types of fandom on each platform. Hilarious and touching, this is a wonderful read, and the details are meticulous and very funny.
PS: It may help to know in advance (as these may be hockey rpf terms with which I was unfamiliar) that 2481 is code for Hollander/Rozanov (their jersey numbers), and 2435 is Hollander/Pike. Some details in the fic will probably only make sense if you've read the books.
PPS: Also, there's a fictional recs list by "ice knives" partway through, and I want to read ALL OF THEM!

Catching up on Christmas
Dec. 27th, 2025 12:49 amsilver_chipmunkChristmas went very well. I got up to find Middle Brother already awake and dressed. I gave him his stocking. Then we had breakfast and I had coffee.
I put Christmas music on and we listened to that until 3:00 when I took him out by bus to McDonalds for a small lunch. I had a fillet-o-fish, yes I actually like those.
Then we went back to my place and listened to more Christmas music til somewhat after 4:30 when the Kid texted and said we should be calling the Uber at 5:30. So at 5:15 I started getting ready, moving the huge bags of presents and the two big boxes, and the bag of food to the door, then out of the apartment, then to the front door, then down to the sidewalk. In stages.
We got to the Kid's apartment and her boyfriend helped us upstairs.mashfanficchick arrived shortly after, and we got started with the appetizers and then presents. It was a lot of fun, everyone liked what they got.
Then we had dinner. It was ham, potatoes, and spinach with mushrooms. All delicious. Then after that we had cookies and peppermint bark for dessert.
We listened to the Kid's Christmas music and talked til almost 12:00 which was starting to get Middle Brother upset, so finally we all left. We shared a Lyft withmashfanficchick.
Got home and got things set up for bed as fast as possible which is why I didn't post more than I did. Middle Brother went to bed, and I did as fast as I could too.
Woke up this morning at a bit before 10:00. Middle Brother was as usual up and dressed. I put on Christmas music and made us breakfast, and me coffee. Then I deflated and folded up the air mattress, and then showered and dressed.
I asked Middle Brother what he wanted to do and he wanted to go back to his group home, so I got us ready and we took the bus to Jamaica and the LIRR to Hicksville where the person from his group home picked him up. I turned around and managed to make a city-bound train almost immediately so that was good.
I found out that my meeting tonight was cancelled, and there's a good chance the meeting tomorrow will be too, because of the snow storm we have coming, so I arranged withmashfanficchick to stay overnight at zer place so we could watch Heated Rivalry. The last episode til the new season comes out next year.
So when I got home I collected my mail, two new Christmas cards! and packed for a night away. Fed the pets, and left. The snow was just starting. It's still coming down.
Watched Heated Rivalry, and had shrimp for dinner. The final episode is so lovely.
Then I Teamed the FWiB, but his coughing was so bad we had to cut it short.
We vacuum-packed the gluten free bagels that the Kid backed formashfanficchick's present, and now we're getting ready for bed.
Gratitude List:

4. Riding out the snow with a friend.

Dec. 26th, 2025 09:47 pmvisualjyushiI spent about two hours last night trying to figure out how to make English patches work on my modded ps vita. It was kind of a headache, but I did it. I'm excited about finally being able to play at least one of the Amnesia fandisks now. Also, Dialovers!!! It's kind of crazy that I've been into these series for a decade and am only now getting to play them... Wild. I just have to get through a short shift at work tomorrow, and then I have a week off to potentially play through some 👀
Before work today, I also finished styling a wig for one of my cosplans. My spouse is obsessed with Lyney from Genshin Impact and thrifted his cosplay hoping he'd fit in it, but it actually fits me better. So, I'm going to be my spouse's anime husband for one of our next cons. (I also like Lyney but not quite to the same extent LOL.) I finally got his wig done today. I just need to make some minor alterations on the cosplay itself before it's con-ready. It's looking like we're both probably going to be doing a lot of Genshin cosplays next year. Unless a new hyperfixation emerges...
I think around the time I started posting here, I mentioned working on a Cloud cosplay. Which I plan to do again!! His wig got totally destroyed by Boston wind and sitting in my car for days after that so... I will be fixing him sometime soon. I only wore him for one day, and it wasn't a con. I want to actually bring him to one next year!!! Especially since my partner wants to be Aerith again as well. The last time he wore her, I was Noctis instead lol.
