First Community Thursday

For Community Thursdays I posted to a community for the first time ever... I made this post at otome_games. I was wondering if I should repost it to my journal, but nah, I'll let it sit there. I still come across users who are a member of or subscribed to that community, so I hope that wakes it up...?

I just really want to see Dreamwidth flourish with my interests specifically. Other fandom communities are alive and well, but I'm a hater/picky eater who doesn't care about 99% of things popular with fandom nerds. It's hard out here. I really really really hope Three Weeks for Dreamwidth helps. Although I'm sure it'll go just as well as the Snowflake Challenge did, when it comes to me meeting new people.

You're taking a good approach. When you post content about your interests, then other people who share those interests are likely to join in the discussion.

It can be really challenging when your tastes are obscure. However, Tumblr is flailing at the moment, so there is an influx of new people here. Maybe some of them will have common interests.

I hope so! And if not, I do have plans for Three Weeks where I introduce my #1 interest to people, so that maybe someone who didn't know what it is before starts to care a little. I hope my plans for the celebration work out 🙏🏾

That's a wonderful idea! I'm delighted to see people planning activities for Three Weeks. I'm planning to cover different types of goal-setting methods for goals_on_dw.

Hopefully it does; especially for your case (And Honestly, VN's in general) I think the format of Dreamwidth is absolutely perfect for the discussion and sharing of them. (Plus, I think the slower paced nature does also add to having more time to enjoy over the modern fandom curse of "It's there for 5 months at most until New Touys come in", but That's neither here nor there.)

(If it's any hope: I do have an acquaintence who I know likes Otome games, so If they post anything that indicates them wanting to branch out to longer form sites, I'll try to nudge them over here!)

Thank you for your kind thoughts! I think DW is good for that kind of thing too. Maybe it's because of starting from FB/Tumblr, but even after years of microblogging I'm sick of having to split my thoughts on anything into threads, and it's rarely ever my full thoughts because the format encourages being brief. The slow pace is good too. I think it's nice here; just with the small caveat that everyone is hiding from each other. (I don't even think the userbase is that small, I just think most everyone is hiding in their access-locked journals.)
