[this is a repost from another site, where no one answered me because they can sense there's something deeply wrong with me, presumably. anyways, i still want it somewhere closer to me rather than far away, collecting dust. reposted 04/21/2025]

Can I just talk about a game here because I don't know where else I'd find English-speaking fans of it? Like, this is the kind of thing that would normally be it's own post but...
This is about Angelique. Okay, so, when I played the first game I assumed that when you get the Love ending with someone, you two have to fuck off forever. He can't be a guardian anymore AND you can't have anything to do with ruling the universe. That's what it looks like, right?? Did I misread something in the ending????
I don't even remember where I learned this, but it turns out that if you get with a guardian you become the Queen's aide. Reminder that I played all the Angelique games more-or-less in order, and I got to Retour still thinking that way. Somewhere between Retour and Luminarise it clicked.
I like my idea better though. From what I've found going through many fansites on the Wayback machine, it seems most people care waaaaay more about the love endings than becoming queen ending. So most people won't feel that their dropping out the exam is a loss. But I thought that it was you either become queen, I guess become aide if you lose (frankly I did not consider what would happen if I lose because I never lose 😎), or you get with a guardian but he has to abandon the home he's made for himself and you have to lose the relationships you've made there too, + even if you return to the Main Planet everyone is old asf/dead.
Did anyone else make this mistake? Do I only prefer my mistaken idea of love endings because I love angst? Am I crazy?
