Here is the previous part. Not that you have to read these in order, or all of them, or any of them, really.

With every peak comes a valley, I suppose.
Story: In the usual Guilty Gear fashion... I don't get it. Maybe it's my memory issues causing this. I can't tell you the details of what happened or how it ended now, and even while it was airing I couldn't. Basically it was introducing a new character who's giving Mary Sue OC, but she's a real canon character. However, given the nature of Guilty Gear, I can't really hate on Unika for it. Every character is just "wouldn't it be awesome if--?" I know she irks people who care a lot about the lore of Sol and Dizzy, and I feel bad for them, but... Guilty Gear moment.
Despite the exposition (which everyone hates) at the start, this still would be super ??????? to newcomers.
Art: The art style itself? Fine. The animation? Sometimes it was cool, but the bad parts were bad to the point I was surprised it was seriously aired on TV. There were lots of postcard memories and stills, overused to the point that it looked cheap more than artsy. You know it's sad when I point it out, because I'm so 90spilled (and earlier) that my bar for good animation is lower than the average anime fan.
Sound: Nothing I would write home about. I skipped the opening when watching. I thought it was meh. The ending theme was kind of a vibe, but I usually skipped that too. Strive music has its ups and downs, you see. The voice acting was good; no complaints there. (I assume how unimpressed I was by this show is obvious already.)
Characters: I already said Unika is a Mary Sue in a way that tracks, so let's talk about MY favorite Guilty Gear character instead of anything reasonable or fair or important.
Why did they do Testament like that?
Shortly before the show aired, I got the news that Tes wouldn't be in the show. I was disappointed, but I was still going to watch for Elphelt and Rammy. (I like A.B.A., but I correctly assumed she wouldn't be in it.) But what's odd is that not only are they mentioned, they're also shown. Multiple times. They don't have a model so they're always drawn, and they're never on screen for more than three seconds, but they show up. Why do they show up? Because the big problem in the show directly affects them!! It affects them so directly it's noticeable odd that they're not a normal cast member in the show.
It makes me wonder if there was some scheduling conflict that made it so their voice actress couldn't do the show, so they tried to work around it. I appreciated getting new Tes crumbs in a way, but at the same time, shit's ridiculous. What the hell.
But anyways Elphie and Sin were so cute in the show wheeeeeeeeeeeee
Enjoyment: I can't believe this was on TV. How would anyone who doesn't play or know GG enjoy it? It doesn't even have superb animation to make up for the strange story, characters that show up without explanation, etc. It's the kind of thing that would've been an OVA 20 years ago. And thinking of that reminds me that things don't get a bunch of novels and manga and OVAs anymore, and GG is a fighting game series so honestly chances are good I won't see Tes canonically speak again for a long time. If ever. I wish I could get to know them more. I hate fighting games. I hate the 2020s. What was this post about again?

Gameplay: I was wondering what Nintendo would do for their next Super Mario Bros. game when they've made Super Mario Maker twice and all. Wouldn't they be scared of accidentally plagiarizing a fans level or something? Well, the obvious solution was to make a game with a bunch of new things Mario Maker doesn't have. All the new enemies were so cute and made for some interesting challenges. Most if not all levels felt like a puzzle to some degree, unlike my memories of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where most levels just felt like "head right and survive."
They removed points, a relic of arcade times that's useless now unless players make up a use for them. I wonder when they'll remove lives.
Art & Sound: It's a super cute game to look at. The art looks like official 2D art by... that one guy. You know? If you know, you know. I love it. The music is nice, and important too -- some levels are kind of giving rhythm game. The game isn't themed after music, so I found it interesting. Mario-themed rhythmic platformer soon? That said, besides the final boss room music, I don't remember any song right now. But they're good, I swear.
Enjoyment: It's more fun playing with someone than alone, I hate to admit. By yourself it's still fun, but I can wholeheartedly say it's best with a team. After all, I played half the game within a few days of getting it and then left it untouched for over a year until I got with a friend and beat the second half in a few hours. I couldn't say why, but there's a reason I lost interest, right? It's because of Metal Gear Solid.
Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers
